The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) is currently seeking applications for an Executive Director User Experience and Member Support.

-The location of this position can be in any of our CBD locations in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, or Perth.

This position can be appointed as ongoing or non-ongoing for a period of up to 5 years.

The Executive Director User Experience and Member Support is part of the Tribunal’s Senior Executive Group. Together with the Executive Director Case Management, the role is responsible for delivering a range of service delivery functions and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

The Executive Director User Experience and Member Support oversees a branch responsible for delivering and designing accessible services to users, engaging with stakeholders and community outreach, harnessing user feedback, and providing administrative support to Members. The role also oversees the provision of contact services to users such as managing email, telephone and in-person enquiries.

  • Strong leadership skills consistent with the SES Performance Leadership Framework, and demonstrated personal drive and integrity, including modelling standards of behaviour in line with APS Values, APS Employment Principles and APS Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and change within the branch and at an organisational level, and to take a positive approach to dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to craft persuasive messages adapted to the needs of different audiences.
  • Proven ability to operate strategically by shaping strategic directions and ensuring alignment of branch activities with organisational priorities.
  • Proven capacity to deliver results, successfully lead significant and complex projects, and develop creative solutions, managing risks appropriately.
  • An in-depth understanding, or the ability to quickly acquire an in-depth understanding, of the Tribunal’s legislative and policy context, particularly in relation to the delivery of user-focused and accessible services to users.
  • Proven ability to cultivate productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, work collaboratively to achieve outcomes, and negotiate successfully.

Relevant tertiary qualifications or expertise in accessible service delivery are required, as well as hold or have ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Clearance following commencement.
