$79,438 to $87,608 plus 15.4% Superannuation

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with Justice Kyrou hearing complex administrative law cases predominantly as the President of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) but also as a Judge of the Federal Court.
The Senior Associate to the President provides legal and case-management support and works closely with other AAT members, associates and registry staff to achieve desired outcomes.
This is a role that requires an articulate, energetic and resilient individual who can build positive professional relationships. Legal qualifications are required, and excellent research, writing and typing skills, proficiency in grammar and a strong academic record are essential.
A willingness to obtain and maintain at least a baseline level security clearance is also mandatory.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in an administrative review tribunal setting as well as a Court setting, and to closely observe the work of advocates.
The duties of an Associate are detailed in the attached position description but specifically include:
- Supporting the preparation of reasons for decisions, orders and case-related correspondence.
- Fact-checking, proof-reading, and editing decisions.
- Undertaking complex legal and other research.
- Clerking at hearings, using hearing room technology to ensure proceedings are transcribed, swearing in witnesses, and recording orders.
- Undertaking general administrative support functions, including filing.
