Statutory Vacancy New Zealand, Private Security Personnel Licencing Authority – Deputy Licencing Authority

Applications are invited from persons wishing to be considered for appointment as a part-time Deputy Licensing Authority of the Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority.

The Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (PSPLA) is a combined registration board and disciplinary tribunal.  The functions of the Licensing Authority are to:

  • Grant licences and certificates of approval to private security businesses and workers
  • Decide objections to licence and certificate applications
  • Determine complaints filed by police and members of the public against licence and certificate holders.
  • Maintain publicly accessible registers of licence and certificate holders

The Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010 (the Act) provides that every Deputy Licensing Authority shall be appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice.

The Deputy Licensing Authority has all the powers, duties, and functions of the Licensing Authority, subject to the control of the Licensing Authority
